Quezon Culinary Tour
SULYAP Gallery
Enjoy an early morning snack at SULYAP and experience dining in a traditional Filipino house, then
take a tour around the gallery featuring turn-of-the-century Filipino antiques.
Carlito’s Workshop
Interact with an artist at work! Carlito Ortega is a sculptor who works with brass and welded steel and
old hard wood whose works are inspired by Philippine folk art and lore. Not only will you be thrilled by
his beautiful artwork, you will also get the chance to listen to him and discover the heart of a real artist.
Kusina Salud
Experience local cuisine at Kusina Salud, located just off the Maharlika Highway, right at the border of San Pablo. What began as a weekend getaway for the Tesoro family has turned into one of the best gustatory pit stops in the south. The kitchen is run by Patis Tesoro’s son-in-law, Chef Poblador, who dishes out fusion versions of Pinoy classics like adobo, kare-kare, binagoongan and lumpiang ubod. Everything on the menu is indeed a classic but all have an unusual twist that make them uniquely different.
Ugu Bigyan’s Pottery Garden
A trip to the south means a visit to Ugu Bigyans’s workshop in Tiaong, Quezon. Ugu has made quite
a reputation for himself as a ceramics artist, creating distinct dinnerware and décor as well as limited
edition ceramic tiles and floorings that have been used in upscale hotels and posh resorts. People,
of course, primarily come for the chance to browse the displays of beautiful ceramics and stoneware
but the workshop grounds can be the objective of one’s visit as well. After a filling afternoon snack
prepared by Ugu Bigyan himself, one can relax in the gardens while enjoying the cool breeze and
listening to the sound of Ugu’s chimes.
Tagayan Ritual
Drinking lambanog (coconut vodka) is a culture in itself. Allow yourself to be properly welcomed to
the Quezon Province through a Tagayan Ritual and learn how to do it properly the next time you are in
the company of friends. Go back in time as you listen to old stories about the importance of the ritual
in celebrations and social gatherings in the past and find out how the culture of lambanog lives on in
the hearts of the natives of Quezon.
