Banaue

Trip Information
Banaue is most famous for the Banaue Rice Terraces, constructed some 2,000 years ago by Ifugao natives who reside on the same lands up to this day. Banaue is situated 4,000 feet above sea level, which explains why the climate is cool here all year round. Banaue is the perfect trip for you if you want to take a break from the city life and totally immerse yourself in nature.
What to try
Tour around the place in a tricycle (or by foot, if you’re up to it) and interact with the locals. There are handicraft shops that line the street, where you can buy indigenous art and antiques. Traditional blankets and weaving shops can also be found here, where you can purchase hand-woven blankets from the friendly elders.
Attractions
Sagada’s caves are the most popular attractions among tourists who come here. These caves are one of the most strange and at the same time amazing, because of the stalactites and stalagmites that line the cave walls.
If you happen to be looking at the limestone cliffs while touring around Sagada, you might notice several boxes protruding from the side of the cliffs. These are actually the Hanging Coffins of Sagada, which are more than a century old. This unusual sight will surely catch your attention!
