Travel Information
Presently known as Ho Chi Minh, Saigon is a lively city that is a treat to one’s senses because of its many markets, sidewalk cafes, skyscrapers, sidewalk cafes, ancient temples, indigenous arts and crafts and massage clinics that can be found almost everywhere.

Attractions

The Cu Chi Tunnels has become a prime tourist attraction largely because it used to be a famous battleground for the Vietnam War. These tunnels were used by Viet Cong guerillas as hiding spots during the war. The elaborate and winding complex of tunnels that stretch 121 kilometers long are a magnificent display of war tactics by the Vietnamese, as they were able to control battles that took place during the war.

The neo-Romanesque Style of the Notre Dame Cathedral was established in downtown Ho Chi Minh City by French colonists way back in 1880. A famous city landmark, the Notre Dame Cathedral draws attention from tourists because of its structure—red bricks and colored glass imported from France, carved tiles and its imposing iron spires that can be seen clearly in Ho Chi Minh’s skyline.

The Water Puppet Theater exhibits Vietnam’s unique thousand-year-old tradition, which is water puppetry. Made out of wood and lacquered, the puppets perform dances about day-to-day village life, as well as Vietnam’s legends and rich cultural history in a waist-high water pool.

The Ho Chi Minh History Museum contains much of Vietnams’ rich cultural history—artifacts from prehistoric times, Vietnam’s fight for independence against the Chinese during the 1st Century, the country’s fight against invaders, as well as various artifacts from the Nguyen dynasty.
